Day 11: @Albany, CA. Met up with Emily today for a delightful lunch and catch-up sesh at Cafe Rendez-Vous and had the ratatouille with polenta. Walked around Albany Hill afterwards to Ranch 99, and I was struck by the ease with which time dissolves when two old friends are put back together. I think she and I could always be friends, no matter how long in between seeing each other. Also spent a really happy hour on the phone with Diane, whose very voice reminds me that - despite my happiness at being back in the Bay, and the sadness with which I will leave next Tuesday - a tiny part of my heart now indelibly belongs elsewhere.
