happy as a tumblweed

Day 6: @Berkeley, CA. Had the most splendid day. Met Alissa and Ilsa for bubble tea, and then took BART down to the Saturday Farmer Market’s off Shattuck and had the most delightful banana-wrap vegan tamales (with hot avocado salsa) made by Anthony. I hadn’t had a tamale since Anthony last gave me one when I was 9 years old. (And the best part: no onions!)

Since it was Ilsa’s first time in Berkeley, we took a small tour through Memorial Glade and the Campanile. As we were walking past Sather, I heard swing music and lo! decided to give it a whirl with a kind stranger who reminded just how much I have missed ballroom dancing.

Other highlights: Shopping at AA and street vendor browsing down Telegraph. Resisted urge to eat crepe. Then met up with Lloyd, Alex and Stevie etc. to see the new Pixar film, Up! which is really as good as the reviews say it is. Times cried during movie: 5. And the baked rice pudding for dessert after lamb shish kebabs for dinner at Turkish Kitchen was just the cherry on top of it all.

Days like this make me wonder why I ever, ever, ever left my Bay-bay.
